Privacy & cookie statement

I run Russel Legal (KVK 92774385), based in Amsterdam, and I'm responsible for the personal data processed through this website. This statement explains what data I collect, on what basis, why, and how I use cookies.

 

If you become a client, the personal data processing related to your specific matter is addressed separately in your engagement letter. This statement covers only the data collected through this website.

What personal data I collect

 

When you contact me: if you use the contact form on this website, I collect the name, email address, and message you provide, so I can respond to your inquiry. I process this data because it's necessary to take steps at your request, or based on my legitimate interest in responding to you. This is processed through Wix, my website provider, and arrives in my connected email inbox and in my Wix business dashboard.

Website statistics: I use Wix Analytics to understand how visitors use my website. This includes IP addresses, shown to me as general location statistics. I only collect this with your consent, in line with the cookie preferences you set, see Cookies below.

Spam protection: my contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to check that submissions come from real visitors, not bots. I rely on this based on my legitimate interest in protecting the website against spam and abuse. This may involve Google processing some data about your device and browsing behavior. You can read more in Google's Privacy Policy.

 

How long I keep your data

​

I don't keep personal data longer than necessary. Contact form submissions are kept only for as long as needed to handle your inquiry, and are deleted once that purpose no longer applies. Where I have a legal obligation to retain certain records for longer, such as financial administration, I keep that data for the legally required period, generally 7 years under Dutch tax record-keeping rules.

Who I share data with

​

I use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website: Wix (hosting, website analytics and contact forms), Google (reCAPTCHA and Search Console), and Usercentrics (my cookie consent tool). Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, it takes place under appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or, where applicable, certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

I take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (AVG), you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data I hold about you, and to object to or restrict its use.
